What’s the Augmented Reality (RA)

The augmented reality is a combination of numerical data interface and reality. It’s based on artificial intelligence, providing users with the possibility of visualizing and interchanging in real time through a 3D model or a 3D environment which explains the difference between AR and VR that is prepared in advance. Also, AR is a very interactive technology due to its sensibility to the slightest change, update, move or interaction in real world because every variation or modification in real time engenders an ajustement of the numerical data as well.

Overall, AR is a set of interactions between the real environment and other virtual ones such as 3D, 2D visuals and/or geo-tracking. This technology is accessible through a smart device (smart phone, tablet…etc) that have ability to do the maths in order to fix your right position and provide you with the estimated connection between the two worlds (virtual and real one).

Augmeneted Reality Components (AR)

According to Fabrice Arscicot, digital pole director of Publicorp, augmented reality is composed of these following elements :

  • A device: This device will study your environment and provide information related to your exact position. It can be a smartphone, laptop or any high tech device. It should have GPS, camera, accelerometer, hygrometer and hydrometer.
  • Marker: It is used to correct and adjust fluctuations of virtual elements. ie: symbol or logo display.
  • Content: The content you want to display or have might be in 2D or 3D format, a video, a video game or anything else.

Usage of Augmented Reality

We always hear people talk about AR and ask various questions like why and how to use it. The reason we present you some usage that might give you an insight.

Augmented Reality and Space

The “Augmented space” has become known, we are starting to talk about it more and more everyday. In contrast to Virtual Reality, users don’t wear headsets. All it takes is to place sensors and/or projectors around users and these components will function according to someone’s mouvement or displacement. In fact, spatial augmented is an interactive tool based on environmental data ( location… etc)

Augmented Reality And Museum

Museums are switching toward the augmented reality by applying figures in AR. It can be images, description list, text, voice guide, objects, 3D hologram, avatar or any other display. All you need is to place your device (smart phone, tablet, IPAD… etc), turn on your camera and live the realistic experience. Actually, with AR you can also display reserved property ( Country’s patrimony… etc) and make it available for every visitor.

Augmented Reality And Gaming

The very well-known app named Pokemon Go has left it’s fingerprint in the digital world, almost everyone tried it and it made a huge success where digital influencers and children were so into it. Even filters of social media like instagram and snapchat are also based on AR and they are a proof of this successful technology.

With AR game applications, facial recognition , environment, gestures, voice and moves makes the experience very joyful and real as much as possible. There is a long list of successful AR game applications, for instance we can find gaming platforms, parlour game, simulation games, dressing app, make up app, decoration app… etc

Augmented Reality And Geo-tracking

AR is used in many fields as mentioned above but did you know that Google Maps is also based on AR ? Yes, Google Maps uses augmented reality to define our exact location and guides us towards our destination. There is also many other apps using AR such as Easy Path View which is an intern geo-tracking app that calculates your position within buildings.
